Unfortunately, we are living in an international where some people are frightened to be who they in reality are because of lack of expertise and vicious complaint. While representation and inclusion were hot topics in the sweetness world, they may be able to if truth be told span all areas of the entertainment business. So, when TV display casts in reality have inclusive casts, that is worthy of praise.

It’s no wonder that 9-1-1: Lone Star famous person Brian Michael Smith is getting his roses. Not handiest is he doing a terrific process together with his function of Paul at the hit show, but he’s also showing everyone that it’s OK to simply accept yourself and be who you are.

While most roles don't seem to be examples of art imitating life, Brian’s function fits the bill. And that’s because he is an accomplished, transgender man in real life. In fact, he’s in fact made history as the primary Black transgender guy in a series on network tv.

You know what I really like about 911:Lonestar? Brian Michael Smith is a transgender guy who performs a transgender man at the show. It’s about time! @TheBrianMichael

In an interview with NBC News, he shared how he bridged the gap between his actual life and the characters he performs.

“There had been a large number of stories I had all the way through my transition and post-transition, and I feel that I realized so much, and I sought after to share that through my work as an artist," he said. “I felt that because of the amount of time that I’ve been training and the experiences I’ve been able to collect, I’m at a place as a performer that I could truly bring these things to work.”

And while there are many actors that prefer to shy away from certain roles out of fear of exposing their true identity, he loves being able to bring this conversation to the table for Americans to understand.

“That’s something I really like about 9-1-1: Lone Star is that they allow my character to just be who he is, while also at other times exploring his trans experience and giving room for that as well,” Brian told Advocate.

Trans actors need to get the same opportunities as cis actors. I won't be happy until I see a trans person phoning it in for a shitty kids movie!

I wanna see Nicole Maines leading The Misfits in Jem and the Holograms! I wanna see Brian Michael Smith befriend some Smurfs!

“I’m like, in no world would a trans man in a new environment, who is coming from an environment where he was experiencing discrimination and animosity for being different, would he be that open and forthcoming with someone that he does not really know," he persevered.

“And it’s an open locker room. There’s other folks walking around. We are introducing this personality and his stories to Middle America to understand. There’s tactics to do it that make extra sense for the nature and for the enjoy, and it’s simply more original.”

Brian’s role as Paul is now not his first time taking part in a transgender persona.

While it’s great that 9-1-1: Lone Star has a transgender man on the show, this is not Brian’s first rodeo. In fact, the actor has performed a trans guy on the hit OWN collection Queen Sugar.

If you’re aware of Queen Sugar, you then likely know the nature Officer Antoine “Toine” Wilkins. Toine used to be a close good friend to the main personality Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe).

He used his persona on that show as a car to return out as a trans guy. And the news used to be massive since Brian was appearing for 5 years ahead of scoring the position as Toine.

There are such a lot of people sitting in Brian’s footwear who're afraid to live out loud. But if his tale shows you one thing, it’s that being open and fair about who you might be will give you the ultimate degree of peace and happiness.

9-1-1: Lone Star airs Mondays at Eight p.m. ET on Fox.
