The Oxygen display 'Cold Justice' re-opens unsolved murder instances, and the Season 6 finale updates the 2006 homicide of Candace Hiltz. Here's the scoop.
Originally broadcast on TNT and produced by Dick Wolf, the true crime display Cold Justice follows former Texas prosecutor Kelly Siegle and a workforce of investigators who re-open cold circumstances. Since the show's starting in 2013, they've assisted native law enforcement in producing forty-nine arrests, twenty-one convictions, 4 confessions, three to blame pleas, and 3 homicide convictions.

Candace Hiltz's murder made nationwide headlines in 2006.
For the ones unfamiliar with Candace's story, Soapboxie has a rundown of the case. Candace "Candi" Hiltz lived in Fremont County, Colo., along with her mom and 6 siblings and used to be considered a kid prodigy from an early age. Candace was once enrolled in Brigham Young University at a young age and by way of seventeen years old used to be already in her third year in class. She was pregnant and decided to transport to on-line schooling to deal with her kid, Paige.
One of Candace's brothers, James, suffered from mental problems, and in consequence, Candace was very protective of him. In 2006, Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Dodd arrived at the Hiltz house to question James regarding a trespassing incident. There is no reputable document of what was once mentioned, but reportedly there was once a heated argument between Candace and the Deputy that allegedly led to Candace threatening Dodd, announcing she had observed him accepting envelopes from identified drug sellers on the town.

Later, the circle of relatives canine was once reported lacking, and Candace was once the one that brought the dog's disappearance to the police. There have also been rumors Candace were given into some other altercation at the police station with Dodd, but those rumors are unconfirmed. On Aug. 15, 2006, after Candace's mother Dolores left the space to run errands at midday, she returned at 3:30 p.m. to find Candace murdered.

At the time, Candace's mother firmly believed that the police investigators had been a minimum of in part accountable for her daughter's death, claiming the evidence was once deliberately erased and the investigation used to be sloppy. In 2016, this idea returned when Cañon City resident Rick Ratzlaff came upon evidence in a garage locker previously belonging to Robert Dodd in reference to the Hiltz homicide.
The Cañon City Daily Record stories, "Dodd was accused of storing the potential murder evidence in a personal storage unit that later was sold at auction when his payment defaulted. He learned about the sale of the unit Dec. 25, 2016, and two days later, he created a supplement report to the Hiltz murder file using erroneous information and listing the items but never mentioning that they had been in his personal belongings."

As a result, Robert Dodd was once found in charge through a jury on June 28, 2018, on 3 of 4 counts when it comes to the ownership of homicide evidence in a non-public storage unit. Fremont County Judge Norm Cooling denied probation on all counts and sentenced Dodd to one hundred eighty days for the misdemeanor, with a hundred sixty five of those days suspended and a nice of $500. Additional fines of $250 have been imposed for each and every of the petty offenses.

'Cold Justice' is making an attempt to provide an update on Candace Hiltz's cold case in 2021.
In Season 6, Episode 8 of Cold Justice, titled "Small Town Conspiracy," Kelly visits Candace's mom, Dolores, and her sister-in-law, Heather, to discuss the case. Since her daughter's death, Dolores were caring for her infant, Paige, who suffered from hydrocephaly and unfortunately passed away in 2012 at the age of seven. However, Dolores and Heather have no longer stopped trying to find their family member's killer.
The episode is marketed as a distinct 90-minute determination to the case. Although indicators first of all looked like corrupt police officials were to blame, the episode suggests Candace's brother James could have had one thing to do with the case.
