"They Were Completely Blind" Woman Says Prison Didn't Let Inmates Have Contact Lenses

Amanda revealed that on her first day in prison, she and the rest of her workforce of inmates were requested via the prison guard if any among them were dressed in contact lenses. Even even though she was some of the crowd who were dressed in contacts, Amanda decided no longer to reply to with a purpose to see what would occur.

That used to be simply the most productive call she could have made. According to her, the prison guard made each and every prisoner remove their contact lenses proper then and there.

"[The prison guard] did not give glasses [and] there was no replacement, nothing," Amanda printed. "Those girls had to go their entire incarceration ... without being able to see."

Prisoners did have choices for glasses, but in Amanda's opinion, it used to be nonetheless a toss-up.

According to Amanda, any prisoner who wanted glasses could apply to receive prison legislation glasses "from the state." They needed to take an eye examination which they were required to pay for themselves and would in the end obtain the glasses.

Unfortunately, Amanda claimed that they were "the ugliest [she'd] ever seen." The glasses that prisoners could get were "black-rimmed, super thick" glasses that you might see a stereotypical nerd wearing in an old school sitcom from the 1990s.

Of route, beggars can't be choosers in prison, and Amanda totally understood the gravity of the selection being made.

"If it came down to looking like a fool or being able to see, I would wanna see," she proclaimed.

For her phase, she used to be in a position to receive glasses from the outside global that weren't moderately as unpleasant as those she described. Unfortunately, other women had hassle merely seeing whilst in prison.

"I was able to see for the rest of my time," she revealed. "But other girls? They were completely blind."
