On the morning of Oct. 13, 1992, Annette Cahill waited outside Wink's Tap in West Liberty, Iowa for her boyfriend. The bar was owned through Corey Wieneke's family, and the 22 year outdated worked there as a bartender. Despite being engaged to a girl by the title of Jody Hotz, Wieneke used to be involved with a couple of women. Cahill used to be simply one in every of them.

She used to be waiting in his automotive when Wieneke arrived with Wendi Marshall. The 3 left together but Wieneke took Marshall house first, promising to go back later. He and Cahill went to her place where they slept together. After preventing briefly at Marshall's space, Wieneke arrived to the house he shared with Hotz, and promptly fell asleep. Where is Annette Cahill now?
Cahill is serving out a 50-year jail sentence at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women in Mitchellville. She used to be charged with first-degree murder on June 7, 2018, greater than 25 years after Corey's homicide, per the Supreme Court of Iowa. By March 2019, her trial started, which resulted in a hung jury. Her second trial started Sept. 9, 2018, and 10 days later, the jury returned a accountable verdict for the lesser offense of second-degree murder.
Cahill's case used to be reopened in December 2017 when Trent Vileta, a unique agent for the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), was on the hospital where Jessica Becker labored as nurse. He was once interviewing a witness when the two started speaking. Upon sharing that he labored cold cases, Becker instructed him about one thing she witnessed 25 years prior, when she was only 9 years outdated.

At the time of Wieneke's murder, Cahill and her two children lived with her brother, Denny Hazen along with his spouse Jacque. Becker was pals with one in every of Hazen's daughters and recalled an overly atypical sleepover at their space. They were upstairs once they heard strange noises downstairs.

Becker informed her mother what she overheard but Cynthia Krogh was afraid to take her daughter to the police as a result of Cahill's uncle was once the sheriff on the time.
Despite having a powerful alibi and no bodily evidence tying her to the crime, Cahill was once accused and located accountable of murdering Wieneke.
There are other theories about Corey Wieneke's death.
It's bizarre that police didn't glance too carefully at Hotz, who used to be the ultimate individual to peer Wieneke alive and who used to be also the fiancée he spent a great deal of time dishonest on. Hotz, who has since married and now goes through Jody Willier, testified all the way through Cahill's trial in March 2019. She advised the court that despite Wieneke's many indiscretions, she cherished him. "I ignored a lot of that, and internalized a lot of that myself," she advised The Muscatine Journal.

One suspicious connection in this case comes in the form of Becker's mother. On the morning of October 13, Cahill "surprisingly gave the impression at a roofing jobsite in West Liberty, which was once run through Lester McGowan. No one knew she was once coming, but she was once it sounds as if there to work. She left not up to two hours later.
What's extraordinary about this is, Cahill was once in a sexual dating with McGowan. And McGowan was used to be married to Becker's mom and in truth, cheated on her with Cahill. Does this come into play in any respect during Cahill's trial?
